Leave a legacy
Remembering the DEC in your will ensures we can continue our work in giving a chance in life to future generations when they face hardship and emergencies.
Charitable bequests are free of inheritance tax. We always recommend seeking advice from a professional on these matters.
Legacy Policy
- They can leave it to the DEC without restriction to support all our work; this will help ensure that DEC can continue its work in giving a chance in life to future generations when they face hardship in emergencies.
OR
- They make it restricted to whichever appeal is open at the time of receipt if there is no appeal open at the time this will go to the next appeal account
Purpose of designated fund:
The designated fund will be used for the following activities of the charity:
-
To fund infrastructure projects which enhance the capabilities of the DEC
-
General purposes of the charity as agreed by the trustees
In Memory
Giving a gift to the DEC in memory of someone special is a unique and meaningful tribute.
You can also create a special tribute page in memory of your loved one in aid of the DEC through MyDonate, JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving.
Transfering shares
If you have small shareholdings you wish to dispose of, Sharegift will help you do so in a charitable and tax-efficient way.
Payroll Giving
Payroll giving is a tax efficient scheme that allows you to donate to the DEC straight from your salary.
Because your donation is taken out before tax a £10 donation will cost you £8. Please visit CAF for advice on how to arrange this.
Donating goods
To avoid slow and costly shipping, our member agencies source the goods and materials they need to help survivors in bulk and as close to the disaster zone as possible.
Therefore the DEC is unable to accept donated goods such as clothes or household materials.
You may be able to support our member agencies, such as Oxfam, British Red Cross, Save the Children, AgeUK, by donating such goods through their UK charity shops.
