The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is committed to good practice in the handling of Personal Data and careful compliance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998. We are registered with the Information Commissioner Office for the UK. We take appropriate measures to ensure that the information disclosed to us is kept secure, accurate and up to date and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used.

We can obtain personal information about you when you make an enquiry, register with us, make a donation or otherwise provide us with personal information. We may also receive information about you from third parties.

The types of information we might collect includes, names, addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, fax numbers, gift aid status and credit / debit card details.

How do we use your information?

We will use your information to notify you of our overseas disaster appeals and provide you with information you have requested, for administration purposes and to comply with the law. We may need to share your information with our data processing organisations and government agencies for these purposes.

We will not share your information with other like minded organisations for the purpose of marketing.

Do we use 'cookies'?

Yes. 'Cookies' are small pieces of information sent by an organisation to your computer and stored on your hard drive to allow that organisation to recognise you when you next visit.
