In Gaza, the humanitarian crisis remains devastating, with food, clean water and other essential supplies still desperately scarce. In Lebanon, thousands of families remain displaced from their homes and living in overcrowded shelters or camps. In the West Bank, violence continues to devastate lives and livelihoods, while in Syria, people fleeing conflict continue to face harsh conditions.
DEC charities and their incredible local partners have delivered food, clean water, medical care, mental health support and so much more to people facing unimaginable challenges.

At the heart of delivering aid - a photo story
Frontline aid workers continue to provide lifesaving support in extremely difficult conditions, facing personal risks as they help others survive and live with dignity.

My life in Lebanon: Co-creation storytelling
Your donations are supporting people affected by the conflict in Lebanon, many of whom have had to flee their homes and leave behind their communities.
We asked some of the women reached by your support at a community cenntre in Beirut what they would like to share about their lives and the impact of your donations.
These are the stories they directed to share with you.
How donations have made a difference
Since the Middle East Humanitarian Appeal launched in October 2024, DEC charities and their incredible local partners have been adapting their work to meet urgent needs in Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank and Syria.
Despite the many challenges in delivering aid, they have reached hundreds of thousands of people with vital support. Here are some examples of how your donations made a difference in the first 18 months of the DEC response.
Food in Gaza
In Gaza, more than 650,000 people received hot meals, fresh food items, food parcels and food vouchers.
Families continue to face severe food insecurity, with many essential items far too expensive for people to buy from local markets due to shortages.
DEC charities and their local partners identify the kind of support families need most. DEC charity ActionAid's local partner PDWSA has been distributing parcels of fresh produce including fruits and vegetables, which many families in Gaza report being particularly difficult to afford.

Mental health care in Lebanon
In Lebanon, more than 150,000 people received mental health and psychosocial support.
Many families fleeing conflict have been staying in overcrowded temporary conditions, with limited access to facilities and basic supplies. These conditions can be particularly difficult for children and their parents, many of whom have also lost homes, friends and family.
DEC charity World Vision has been working in temporary shelter sites to ensure children have somewhere to play, and to help them process what they have been through with specialist support workers.

Clean water in Gaza
More than 420,000 people in Gaza were supported with access to clean water for drinking and washing, an essential reseource that is desperately scarce for those living in shelters and camps.
DEC charities and their local partners have been delivering water through trucks, and the rehabilitation of water systems.
PARC, a local partner of DEC charity Christian Aid, rented a diesel powered generator to operate a water well in Northern Gaza, helping provide clean water to around 7,000 residents in the area.

Medical care in Lebanon
More than 35,000 people in Lebanon received improved access to healthcare, such as through the rehabilitation of medical facilities and the distribution of medicines and supplies.
Displacement can mean people aren't able to bring medication or medical aids with them when fleeing their homes, and disease spreads quickly in overcrowded conditions.
DEC charities like Plan International and partners have been helping families to access the care they need.

Cash support in the West Bank
More than 24,000 people in the West Bank received cash assistance and food vouchers to meet their basic needs.
Violence continues to cause displacement, food insecurity and livelihood disruption. Cash support is an effective way for families to meet their most urgent needs whilst supporting the local economy.
DEC charities are also supporting healthcare facilities, and distributing essential items and food baskets.

In the first 18 months of the DEC response, from the launch of the appeal in October 2024 to April 2026, DEC charities and their partners delivered urgently needed food, water, medical care, cash assistance and much more to people living in unimaginably difficult conditions.
These figures reflect the response of DEC member charities across Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank.
Despite the severe challenges they have faced, DEC charities and their local partners have worked tirelessly throughout the conflict to continue reaching some of the most vulnerable families with lifesaving support.
