Nearly three weeks after its launch the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) today announced that donations to Philippines Typhoon Appeal have reached £68 million.
DEC Chief Executive Saleh Saeed said:
"We are immeasurably grateful for the on-going generosity of the UK public. Nearly three weeks on, donations are continuing to come in and aid is reaching affected areas. We have also been incredibly moved by communities across the UK coming together for fundraising events and the extraordinary efforts of some individual fundraisers."
"But the plight of people in need isn’t over. We urge the UK public to continue donating so our member agencies can get vital supplies like food, water, shelter and medical care to those who desperately need it.”
