Two Years On Update

For the past two years, 13 DEC member charities and their local partners have been delivering life-saving support and assistance for those affected by the crisis in Ukraine including internally displaced people and refugees in neighbouring countries.

Thanks to the generosity of the British public and support from the UK government’s Aid Match scheme, the appeal has raised over £430 million. This update gives an overview of how this funding has been used by DEC members and their partners over two years, from March 2022 to February 2024, across the five countries of DEC response.

This update includes:

  • An overview of how DEC member charities and partner organisations have responded in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova and Hungary.

  • The humanitarian situation in March 2024 including number of refugees and displaced people

  • The impact of DEC funded programmes in Phase 1 (the first six months) and Phase 2 (up to the two-year point) including how funds have been spent in different countries and each sector of work

  • Details of how the DEC is working to across the region to improve the delivery of humanitarian programmes such as through cash support and better communications

  • Look ahead at the plans for DEC funded programmes to conclude at the end of August 2025
